Tuesday 24th February at 1pm sees the premiere of my song cycle of poetry from James Joyce’s autobiographical series of poems, Pomes Penyeach. It’s a substantial work for soprano, harp and string quartet, and I’ll be joined by soprano Colette Delahunt and the RTÉ Con Tempo Quartet. The venue is Limerick’s Lime Tree Theatre on the campus of Mary Immaculate College where I’m currently AEPE Composer in Residence. The concert also includes the premiere of my new work for solo cello, In Mary’s Eye, inspired both by the name of the college, and by the outdoor murals of teenage boys around Limerick city. Later on the same day, and together with the RTÉ Contempo Quartet, we’ll be providing workshops for students of MIC. Admission is €10 and admission is free to students of MIC. Booking information is at www.limetreetheatre.ie.
