Tuesday 15th December sees the premiere of my work, ‘A Psalm for Christmas’ for female voices with trumpet, French horn, trombone and harp in Mary Immaculate College Chapel at 6pm. It’s a setting of a beautiful poem by Thomas Pestel, the seventeenth century poet and clergyman. Composed as part of my continuing AEPE residency in composition at MIC, the piece is another of my choral works which is designed to be versatile, with accompaniment which can also be played on piano or organ, and composed with community choirs in mind. On this occasion it will be sung by the MIC Community Choir conducted by Paul Collins. Thanks to support from the Arts Council and the Lime Tree Theatre for this residency, many events and collaborations have been scheduled for 2016, including the commemoration of 1916.
